Safe presentation

Mode D—masked cards and timed reveal on your device.

Who this is for

Anyone who must show credentials, bank details, or ID fields to another person—in a meeting, video call, or counter visit—without sending a full copy or uploading to the cloud.

What you need

TierFree
Vault stateUnlocked
NetworkNot required—presentation stays on-device
Feature toggleNone—shipped and available now

Steps

Open presentation mode

  1. Unlock the vault and open the asset (Credential, Bank, Document, etc.).
  2. Tap Present on the asset row overlay or detail toolbar.
  3. The banner reads Presentation mode — nothing is uploaded.

Choose visible fields

  1. Toggle which fields appear on the redacted card—defaults vary by category (e.g. bank name visible, full account masked).
  2. Your selection saves per asset for next time.
  3. Reset to category default restores the template preset.

Timed reveal

  1. For sensitive values, tap Reveal on a field.
  2. Pick duration (15 s, 30 s, 60 s)—the full value shows briefly, then masks again.
  3. Screen capture protection may activate on protected field types while revealed.

In-person or video use

  • Hold the phone or laptop so the other party reads only the masked card.
  • Use Copy redacted to paste non-secret summaries—clipboard auto-clears per app policy.
  • Need paper? Use the browser Print command on the presentation card—the layout is print-safe and omits masked fields.

Optional handoff from presentation

When you do need to transfer data after showing:

ActionRiskUse when
Show QR (plaintext JSON)Anyone nearby can scan selected non-secret fieldsLow-sensitivity proof only—confirm the dialog, then Hide QR when done; changing visible fields dismisses the QR
Share… (encrypted link or file)Standard Modes A–C with relay or .nt2shareRecipient needs a retained copy or encrypted remote handoff—use Share, not Present

Presentation itself never uploads plaintext—encrypted handoff stays on the Share… sheet.

Tips and common mistakes

  • Safe presentation is not a share link—watermark reminds viewers: Redacted preview — not a share link.
  • Nothing replaces out-of-band trust—masking does not stop someone from photographing the screen during timed reveal; use minimum fields.
  • Prefer presentation over .nt2share when the other party only needs to verify, not retain, data.
  • For recurring landlords or employers, combine presentation in person with a one-time encrypted link if they need a retained copy.
  • Hard-blocked field types (e.g. full mnemonics) cannot be added to QR exports—use vault-to-vault for those rare cases.
